FOOD & LOVE || cupcakes and cuties 3

Valentine's Day is approaching. Yay!

Cupcakes and Cuties is a great way to celebrate it, or not celebrate it. If you've a Valentine, great. If you don't have one, even better. Yay for a girls' night with cupcakes and wine and conversation. If you want an invite, and I haven't sent you one already, comment here and I'll get on that!

creating in darkness.

I have the urge to make things today.

I have not been feeling my best lately. In fact, for the past three weeks, I've been feeling my worst. Things were only ok when I was in class, forced to have some sort of focus.

It all came to a head Friday morning. Now I'm in Detroit, surrounded by family and am happy that they always inspire me to be the best. I am happy to have this break, because my weeks have be non-stop until now. . .

What has been helping me while I'm here is creating stuff. I got up this morning determined to make black and white cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (Paula Deen). It took longer because I had to layer the batter and make the special icing. It worked well and I am pleased. My mom even took some to the ladies' gathering at the house of a kind of shut-in church member.

I'm planning to make dinner for my family and maybe will pick up a pattern to practice my sewing and to have something at the end.

v-day blues.

Cupcakes and Cuties is still on. Wooooooooooo!
I'm excited to hang out with friends and make them happy. Well, at least try;)

At the same time, I'm kind of sad to be without a Valentine, again. (That situation is crap-tastic)
I keep saying, one day, but it doesn't happen.

But Cupcakes and Cuties will be a blast!
I still have a lot of shopping to do for it. . .
Can't wait to see how everything turns out!

why i love cupcakes

I love cupcakes.
I especially like to go to Hiller's Market and splurge on the special ones at their bakery. Today I got a mocha cupcake and it was yummy. Which was one of my happy-making things of the day.
(I am about to enjoy it's chocolatey-coffee-ey goodness in the photo.)

Why do I love cupcakes so?
Because they are cute. And miniature versions of cake and I like cake, but I doubt it would be a good idea to eat an entire cake. But it is perfectly fine to eat an entire cupcake.

You see, cupcakes are whole and entire in and of themselves. A cupcake isn't a part of a whole. A cupcake is the whole.

Most people don't want or need to pair cupcakes. For cake or pie, you need ice cream in order to make it a celebratory food. Not with cupcakes. A cupcake is the celebration. Add ice cream, and the party is double. It is enhanced, but it isn't needed.

Cupcakes are fun. They are easy to grab and go, so they are kind of spontaneous. They don't require flatware, they are self-contained in their own little cups. They are quite comfortable in a group of a dozen or so, yet they can stand alone.

I'm kind of like a cupcake.
Besides being miniature, which I am not. . .
I'm cute. I'm whole and entire in and of myself, but add another person (a friend, a love, etc.) and the party is doubled or tripled or something. I'm fun and like a bit of spontaneity. I like groups, I love being with other people, but I can still stand alone.

Add to that a little sweetness and some fun sprinkles.
